Home Economics

The practicals I have done are savoury cases and chicken stir fry.The difference between hygiene and personal safety is….
The word “hygiene” means maintaining your health and not getting diseases or germs. You shouldn’t wash your hand before and after and also if you touch meat or chicken.

The word “personal health” means  not getting in danger or any injury. Don’t run around with sharp objects. Be aware of your surrounding and other people so you don’t hurt and injure someone.

Last week when we did a practical I demonstrated hygiene and safety by not being silly around sharp objects and wash my hand before I do anything and when I touch food items like chicken, vegetables and more. Also washing the table before and after you make food.
When you use chicken you have to wash you hand before and after you touch it. You also have to make sure the chicken is cooked all the way through because if it isn't you can get salmonella which can make you sick .
What is bacteria?
Bacteria is bad germs get can be anywhere and could get in your food.
What do bacteria need to survive?
Water to dissolve in the food to make them have energy. Energy sources such as sugars, starch, protein, fats and other give the nutrients.
You can avoid spreading it by cleaning your tables with cleaning products, don't touch your nose, eye or mouth.
What does cross contamination mean and how affects you?
The meaning is when bacteria can be transferred from one place to another and can be bad for you.
It can occurs when bacteria and viruses are transferred from a contaminated food or surface such as a chopping board and utensils.
